New Delhi: In the recent Weekend Ka Vaar episode of 'Bigg Boss 16', Salman Khan said that Sumbul Touqeer Khan is obsessed with Shalin Bhanot. He also pulled up Shalin for playing along and behaving as if he doesn’t know this.

Now Sumbul’s father Touqeer Hasan Khan, in a conversation with ETimes, came out in her daughter’s defence and said that Sumbul is not obsessed with Shalin but cares for her.

“She isn’t obsessed with Shalin but is caring towards him. During the fight, even Soundarya was holding Stan back. No one noticed it, but Sumbul came into the limelight. Sab ek doosre ko kiss kar rahe hain, hug kar rahe hain, sab friends hain par agar Sumbul kare toh usko bola jaata hai. This has been happening since day one. Everyone knows that the more they target her, the more hype they will get. She has become a soft target,” he was quoted as saying by ETimes.

He also said that Sumbul saw a ‘father figure’ in Shalin because of similarities between Shalin and Sumbul, including sharing a birthday.

“Because of a couple of similarities between Shalin and Sumbul, including sharing a birthday, she found a father figure in him from day one. Talking about panicking during Shalin and MC Stan’s fight on the show, I remember an incident around five years ago when I got into an altercation with someone, she went through something similar. It was like a déjà vu moment with just Shalin instead of me,” he told ETimes.

Meanwhile, in the upcoming episode, Sumbul will get a chance to speak to her father over the phone. His father will ask her to show Tina Datta and Shalin Bhanot their place. In the promo, Sumbul’s dad is seen saying, “Beta aap Tina aur Shalin ko unki aukat dikhani hain National Television pe”.

The Imlie actress broke down and said ‘papa muje kuch samjh nai aaraha hai’.

It remains to be seen what will Sumbul’s behaviour after Salman’s words on Weekend Ka Vaar and the conversation with her father after that.
