New Delhi: Bengali actor Suchandra Dasgupta passed away on Saturday night in a car accident while driving from the set to her house in Panihati. According to eyewitnesses, the incident happened in the Baranagar neighbourhood while she was travelling on a bike. The actor is said to have been struck by a lorry close to Ghoshpara under the Baranagar Police Station. 


Her close friends and family members were shocked by the incident. Suchandra has appeared in quite a few Bengali television series, primarily in supporting roles. She was reportedly 29.


The event happened when a bicycle unexpectedly crossed the street close to Baranagar Ghoshpara Road, and the rider of the app-based bike attempted to stop the bicycle by applying the brake. Suchandra, who had been riding behind the motorbike, suddenly dropped to the ground. According to reports, she was hit by a ten-wheel vehicle at the time she fell off the bike. Her helmet reportedly broke into several pieces.


Reportedly, after the collision, street protests broke out, and many residents asserted that the police failed to adequately manage the reckless truck driver, which they blamed for the accident.


The accident caused traffic to be disrupted for a while until Baranagar Police arrived and took charge of the situation. She reportedly passed away right there even though she was wearing a helmet. 


According to ANI, Debjyoti Sengupta, Suchandra's spouse, revealed that she had been a sidekick in various serials for a while. But it was an addiction for her. She occasionally had to travel for work. She was also filming for a show yesterday as she rode her bike back from the place of filming. 


According to the most recent information, the police have detained the truck driver. She is well known for her part in the hit television show 'Gouri Elo'.
