The reboot version of popular 'Star Plus' show 'Kasautii Zindagii Kay, starring Shweta Tiwari & Cezanne Khan in leads, is creating huge buzz ever since Ekta Kapoor hinted about the same on Twitter. 'Kuch Rang Pyar Ke Aise Bhi' actress Erica Fernandes will be stepping into Shweta Tiwar's shoes as 'Prerna' whereas the hunt for new 'Anurag Basu' is still going on. Recent reports suggested that Mohit Raina or Angad Bedi are in contention to play the male lead in 'Kasautii...' reboot. But now, two more names have cropped up who are in the running to play 'Anurag Basu' in the show.

According to an entertainment portal,  "It’s a race between Barun Sobti and Ssharad Malhotra to play the lead."

Speaking about the same, a source close to the development told SpotboyE that, “Star Plus is keen that Barun comes on board whereas Ekta is considering Ssharad for the part.”

'Kasauti...' remains one of the most loved shows on the small screen till date. Apart from Shweta & Cezzane, the roles played by Ronit Roy & Urvashi Dholakia became popular too. The popular 'Star Plus' was the story of lovers Anurag & Prerna who never reunited.

'Kasautii...' reboot will reportedly go on floors in August and lead actress Erica recently shot for a special video for the show's announcement.

Barun Sobti has worked with 'Star Plus' in the first and third season of 'Iss Pyar Ko Kya Naam Doon' whereas Ssharad is yet to work with the channel. He is currently playing the lead role in Ekta Kapoor's 'Kasam Tere Pyar Ki' which will soon go off-air.
