New Delhi: 'Bigg Boss 16' ended on February 12, and rapper MC Stan became the winner of the reality show after beating Shiv Thakare and Priyanka Chahar Choudhary to take home the trophy, Rs 31.8 lakh prize money and a car.
Stan’s win was a surprise for many as the rapper was disinterested in the show for the major part. The majority of the contestants and viewers were expecting Priyanka Chahar Choudhary to win the show. Even Salman Khan said that his family and friends also expected Priyanka to win. During the grand finale, Priyanka’s close friend and co-star Ankit Gupta also got emotional when she was evicted at the third position.
In a conversation with ETimes, Ankit said that Stan’s win was not unfair but unexpected.
“I would just say that for you to win the show, you actually have to do nothing (Laughs),” he was quoted as saying by Ankit.
“I won’t call it unfair because he was chosen as the winner based on audience votes. People liked him due to which he got so many votes. I can’t call it unfair. We were expecting Priyanka to win the show and it’s not necessary that if our expectations did not get fulfilled then it is unfair. We had different expectations that’s it,” he told ETimes.
A section of the audience felt that he was an ‘undeserving’ winner as he didn’t contribute much to the show and always wanted to quit. Reacting to this, MC Stan had told Indian Express.com, “I honestly don’t care about them, mujhe fark nahi padta mama. I actually like people who get jealous. It’s a very natural emotion in a human being. One just needs to accept that this wasn’t meant for them. Just like most fans, I am also shocked but I do feel I deserved to win.”
MC Stan, whose real name is Altaf Shaikh, is also a lyricist, music producer and composer who became popular after the release of his song ‘Khuja Mat’ in 2019. He is also known for tracks such as ‘Basti Ka Hasti’, ‘Tadipar’, and ‘Gender.’
