New Delhi: A teacher-student bond is special in many ways. After parents, it is teachers a child looks up to, a teacher is just not someone who teaches you academia, but someone who mentors you to excel in the tests of life!
Here are some of the movies and shows that have beautifully portrayed the teacher-student bond:
Hichki: Hichki presents a positive and inspiring story about a woman who turns her biggest weakness into her biggest strength. The movie talks about the issues that the protagonist is facing in her personal life, but the entire movie is devoted to the fact that it is the teacher who can bring out the hidden potential of a child. The famous dialogue of the movie says, “There are no bad students but bad teachers!”
Super 30: The story of Anand Kumar, a mathematician from Patna, who works his way through challenges towards success before running the Super 30 programme for IIT aspirants in Patna is not unknown to the country but some parts of Anand’s life and his journey to make Super 30 programme successful was not told well, the movie featuring Hrithik Roshan as Anand Kumar beautifully describes the relationship of a teacher with his students.
Taare Zameen Par: The 2007 movie, starring Aamir Khan is based on a child having dyslexia (not a disorder), while the child is always taunted and criticised for his poor academic performance by his parents. Aamir Khan being Ishan’s teacher makes everybody understand that one needs to identify the issue and handle it with care and love. Every child is special in his/her own way. An eye-opening movie for many parents.
Kota Factory: The show follows the life of 16-year-old Vaibhav (Mayur More) who moves to Kota from Itarsi. It shows the life of students in the city, and Vaibhav's efforts to get into an Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) by cracking the Joint Entrance Examination. However, the main focus of the show is Jeetu Bhaiya, an inspirational teacher and mentor which every student aspires to have. Jeetu bhaiya teaches his students to celebrate failures and provides meaning to all the hard work that students are putting in order to achieve their dreams.
Dead Poets Society: The main message of the movie teaches us to resolve to lead lives of passion and conviction, mindful of the fact that in the story of our lives the script is ours to write, but the ending has long been decided. Apart from that, the movie focuses on John Keating, a progressive English teacher, who tries to encourage his students to break free from the norm, go against the status quo, and live life unapologetically.
Hip Hip Hurray (1984): Sandeep Chawdhary is an engineer by profession, but in order to make ends meet, he chooses to work a temporary job as a sports coach. He submits an application and is hired at the Bishop Westcott Boys' School in Ranchi. Soon, Sandeep's team wins the football championship and returns the school's tarnished glory.
