New Delhi: Actress Swara Bhasker surprised everyone when she announced her marriage to political activist Fahad Ahmad in February. The couple, who had a court marriage on February 16, is all set to have a traditional wedding ceremony this month. Pictures of the wedding invite have gone viral on social media. Taking to Instagram, Prateeq and Anupam shared pictures of the wedding card with the caption, " We had the opportunity to work on the wedding invite for the fearless and fabulous @reallyswara and @fahadzirarahmad. Swara and Fahad wanted the invite to capture how they met and fell for each other during a citizen protest, their memories of Mumbai and Marine Drive, their abiding love for the movies, and of course, for their beautiful cat, Ghalib."
The card shows a bride in a red lehenga and a groom in beige sherwani, looking from their window at a protest. Banners of ‘hum sab ek hain, ’hum kaagaz nahi dikhaege (used during the CAA protests) and ‘love is the greatest revolution’ can be seen. It also shows Mumbai’s Marine Drive, a poster of Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge in the backdrop and their cat Ghalib.
Swara had revealed in her announcement post that they met and fell in love during Delhi’s CAA protests in 2020.
Taking to Instagram, Swara had shared a video with a caption that said, "Sometimes you search far & wide for something that was right next to you all along. We were looking for love, but we found friendship first. And then we found each other!Welcome to my heart@FahadZirarAhmadIt’s chaotic but it’s yours! ♥️✨🧿."
In the video, Swara has documented how she met Fahad at a protest "obviously", and how their romance led to marriage.
Swara also shared pictures from their court marriage and how they wed thanks to the Special Marriage Act. In the announcement, she wrote, “So blessed to be supported and cheered by the love of family and friends like family! Wore my mother’s sari & her jewellery.. made @FahadZirarAhmad wear colour :) and we registered under the #SpecialMarriageAct Now to prep for shehnaii-wala shaadi.”
