"Today Congress delegation met me and demanded an inquiry in the relationship between Sandip Ssingh, who made PM Modi's biopic, and BJP; also his connection with drugs. We are forwarding this request to CBI," Anil Deshmukh said, as quoted by news agency ANI.
The development in the middle of the death probe came after Congress attacked the ruling party BJP over its alleged links with Sandip Ssingh, who claimed to be the closest friend of late actor Sushant Singh Rajput, and questioned why he had called the BJP office in Mumbai "53 times".
On the other hand, the Maharashtra government has been facing accusations from the BJP that it had "overlooked" charges of drug use surrounding actor Sushant Singh Rajput's death to protect those close to the state's ruling parties.
