New Delhi: Ravi Mohan, also known by his stage name Jayam Ravi, has been working in the Tamil film industry for many years now. He is also the son of veteran film editor A. Mohan. Jayam has been making headlines because of divorce announcement. Jayam announced his divorce from wife, Aarti Ravi, 15 years after their marriage. Both, also are parents to two boys.


Jayam is also a celebrated actor with a Tamil Nadu State Film Award, three SIIMA awards and a Filmfare Award South to his credit.


About Jayam Ravi


Jayam Ravi grew up in Chennai and Hyderabad. He studied dancing under the Bharatnatyam dancer Nalini Balakrishnan and performed his arangetram at 12. After studying Visual Communication from Loyola College, Chennai, he decided to get into the film industry.


How Ravi Mohan took the name of Jayam after he made his acting debut in the film 'Jayam'. Jayam Ravi's older brother, Mohan Raja, is a film director, with most of his films featuring Ravi in the lead role. Jayam trained as an actor at the Kishore Namit Kapur Institute in Mumbai. 


Ravi worked as a child actor in three films including two films, which were produced by his father. After his successful debut in 'Jayam', he starred in several films like  M. Kumaran Son Of Mahalakshmi,  Amma Nanna O Tamila Ammayi, Daas, Bommarillu, and many others.


Jayam Ravi also experimented with action and comedy for many years.


Jayam took a two-year break from the big screen in 2019 to return to OTT in 2021 with 'Bhoomi'. He was seen in Mani Ratnam's 'Ponniyin Selvan' in 2022.


Ravi married Aarti, daughter of noted TV produer Sujatha Vijayakumar in 2009. They have two sons, one of whom, Aarav, also starred in 'Tik Tik Tik'.

Jayam and Aarti’s divorce romours have been rife for quite some time now. In June this year, a few days after their 15th wedding anniversary on June 4, Aarti deleted all her photos with Ravi from her Instagram account. While the couple has been quite private about their relationship since 2009, their move has come as a shock to many.


Later, Aarti shared a picture commemorating her husband's hit debut film 'Jayam', which ended romours about the split.
