New Delhi: Vijay Deverakonda was most recently seen in 'Kushi' alongside Samantha Ruth Prabhu. The romantic drama performed decently at the box office. However, off late there has been speculation about Vijay's upcoming film with 'Jersey' director Gowtam Tinnanuri being shelved. However, now, the actor's team has claimed that the film is very much on track.
Earlier, Telugu 360 has reported on social media platform X that the film which had been announced in January last year had been shelved and there have not been many updates since it went on-floors in June 2023. They had taken to X to write, “Vijay Deverakonda and Gowtam Tinnanuri film which got delayed is shelved as per our sources. The big-budget actioner might not see light due to budget constraints!”
However, Vijay's team responded to the portal's tweet with a clarification that read, "Not true… !! Shoot will resume very soon. #VD12,” and another commenting, “Not true. The shoot will restart as soon as #FamilyStar shoot is done. The schedule is being planned from first week of March 2024.”
The untitled film with Gowtam will be his next outing after the Telugu and Hindi versions of the sports drama 'Jersey'.
'VD12' is said to star Vjay and Sreeleela in the lead roles but there is also been rumour about the latter having left the project.
A report in HT claimed that Vijay's rumoured girlfriend Rashmika Mandanna has been roped in but the official announcement is yet to be made. 'VD12' has been touted to be a period drama which will show Vijay as a spy.
A few posters of the film have been enough to create some buzz around the movie.
Vijay Deverakonda was supposed to be a part of another film by Puri Jagannadh's titled 'JGM' but the project has been put on hold since the failure of 'Liger'.
Meawhile, Prui Jagannadh has also been working with Ram Pothineni for the sequel of 'iSmart Shankar' titled 'Double iSmart'.
