Kamal Haasan is celebrating his 70th birthday on Thursday, and his daughter, actress Shruti Haasan, shared a heartfelt tribute to her "appa," calling him a "rare diamond."

Taking to Instagram, Shruti posted a gym photo of her and Kamal, both seen from behind. Kamal is dressed in casual workout attire, while Shruti flaunts her signature style. Alongside the photo, she wrote, "Happy birthday, Appa." You're a rare diamond, and walking by your side is one of my favourite things in life. I know you don’t believe in God, but you’ll always be his/her chosen child."


She continued, expressing her admiration, “I’m always so excited to see all the magical things you do. Here’s to many more birthdays and dreams coming to life. Love you so much, pa.”

Kamal Haasan's acting career 


Kamal Haasan, a prominent actor in Indian cinema, has worked in Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu, Hindi, Kannada, and Bengali films. His career began as a child artist in the 1960 Tamil film ‘Kalathur Kannamma’. The actor’s breakthrough came in 1975 with ‘Apoorva Raagangal’, and he later won acclaim for iconic roles in ‘Moondram Pirai’, ‘Nayakan’, and ‘Indian’. Known for his extraordinary range, he’s received three National Film Awards, nine Tamil Nadu State Film Awards, four Nandi Awards, and prestigious honours like the Padma Shri, Padma Bhushan, and the French Order of Arts and Letters (Chevalier).


Most recently seen in ‘Indian 2’, directed by S. Shankar, Kamal reprised his role as Senapathy, a vigilante fighting corruption. He will next appear in ‘Indian 3’ and ‘Thug Life’.
