New Delhi: Suraj Kumar, a Kannada actor who is set to make his film debut, suffered a serious accident on Saturday and had to have his right leg amputated. Suraj Kumar's two-wheeler and a tipper truck collided on Saturday. He was taken by ambulance to the hospital, where his leg had to be amputated below the knee.
Son of film producer S A Srinivas, the 24-year-old actor has experience working as an assistant director on films like Tharak and Airavatha.
According to sources, the actor was collaborating with Malayali actress Priya Prakash Varrier on the movie 'Ratham'.

Suraj Kumar, commonly known as Dhruvan, was apparently travelling between Mysuru and Ooty at the time of the tragedy. According to a News 18 report, the actor lost control of his motorbike while attempting to pass a tractor and crashed into a tipper. He was brought to Manipal Hospital in Mysuru, his leg was amputated below-the-knee.
As per The Indian Express, a police officer said, "Suraj was returning from Ooty on his bike. His right leg came under the wheels of a tipper lorry and was totally crushed. He was shifted to a private hospital in Mysuru where he is presently being treated.”
Among those who visited the actor in the hospital were Kannada superstar Shiva Rajkumar and his wife Geetha, who are the children of renowned Kannada superstar Dr. Rajkumar. Suraj is linked to the Rajkumar family because his aunt Parvathamma is Dr. Rajkumar's wife.
