Koratala Siva’s Telugu film 'Devara Part 1' has had a strong start at the box office, both in India and globally. Starring Jr NTR and Saif Ali Khan, the action movie had one of the biggest opening days in Indian cinema and continued to do well over the weekend. According to Comscore, it is now the second highest-grossing film worldwide for this weekend.

Released in theaters on September 27, ‘Devara Part 1’ had an impressive opening. The makers shared that the film earned Rs 172 crore on its first day worldwide. In its opening weekend, it grossed $32.93 million (about Rs 275 crore), making it the second highest-grossing film globally, according to Comscore. ‘Devara’ is behind only ‘The Wild Robot’, which earned $44 million, and it outperformed Hollywood movies like ‘Beetlejuice’ ($29 million) and ‘Transformers One’ ($25 million).

The makers of ‘Devara’ claim it will cross Rs 300 crore worldwide and Rs 200 crore in India, but trade trackers like Sacnilk and Comscore have lower estimates. Sacnilk reports that the film earned Rs 161 crore net in India during its opening weekend. On Sunday, the film saw a 5% increase, grossing Rs 40 crore in the domestic market. However, the real challenge will be on Monday when weekday collections usually drop.
