Actress Amala Paul recently made a surprising revelation at the JFW Movie Awards, where she won the Critics Award for Best Actress. The actress shared that her husband Jagat Desai didn’t know she was an actor when they were dating, and only discovered her fame after she became pregnant.
In a report by OnManorama, which translated her statement originally in Tamil, Amala shared:“Jagat and I met in Goa. Though he’s Gujarati, he’s settled there. I told him I was from Kerala, but he wasn’t someone who watched many South Indian films. I didn’t tell him I was an actor and only gave him access to a private Instagram account. Later, I found out I was pregnant, and we married soon after.”
Jagat eventually started exploring her work during her pregnancy and was astonished by her popularity.
Amala Paul's husband did not know about her fame
“When I was home expecting our child, he began watching my films one by one. He enjoys watching award shows, so seeing me walk red carpets and give speeches really amazed him,” Amala added.
She also recalled Jagat asking when he could see her live on one of those red carpets, to which she replied, “I have no idea.” The couple announced Amala’s pregnancy in January 2024, and in June 2024, they welcomed a baby boy named Ilai.
