Akshay Kumar is set to make his Telugu debut in 'Kannappa' and on Sunday he unveiled a new poster showcasing his first look as Lord Shiva. The poster quickly went viral. The film, scheduled for release on April 25, 2025, also features Vishnu Manchu, Prabhas, and Mohanlal in pivotal roles.

Akshay Kumar took to his Instagram stories to share a poster of himself dressed as Lord Shiva, building anticipation ahead of the film's release. Back in February, the teaser was unveiled, offering a glimpse of Prabhas as the ‘Divine Guardian’ Rudra. It also revealed that Akshay Kumar will be portraying the iconic role of Lord Shiva in his Telugu debut.

In recent days, there has been speculation about a potential change in the release date of ‘Kannappa’ due to delays in finalising its OTT rights. With streaming platforms now playing a pivotal role in shaping theatrical release schedules, the film is no exception. In response to these rumors, Vishnu Manchu addressed the situation in a recent interview, clarifying the matter.

“There has been a delay in closing the OTT rights deal, but it is not because they are holding back the release date. The reason is that we are expecting a substantial price for the digital rights. Three major OTT platforms were already competing for the rights, and now, yet another popular platform has joined the race. The deal is almost finalized, and an official announcement will be made soon,” said Vishnu.
