New Delhi: Actor Sonu Sood, who is a role model for many because of his philanthropic work, was schooled by Northern Railway for travelling on the footboard of a train.

The actor, who helped many people during the Covid-19 lockdown, had shared a video of him travelling on a train footboard on December 13, last year. The video is set to the tune of Musafir Hu Yaaro and Sood is seen sitting near the footboard and enjoying the view.

The video didn’t go down well with Northern Railway. Calling him the role model, Northern Railway said that his video would give a wrong message to the nation.

"Dear, @SonuSood, You are a role model for millions of people in the country and the world. Travelling on train steps is dangerous, and this type of video may send the wrong message to your fans. Please do not do this! Enjoy a smooth and safe journey," Northern Railway tweeted.

Sood reacted to the tweet by apologising and said he just wanted to experience how many people feel while travelling sitting near train doors. He wrote,“Apologies 🙏 just sat there watching, how would those lakhs of poor people feel whose lives still pass through the train doors. Thank you for this message and for improving the railway system of the country. ❤️🙏”

Earlier, Mumbai Railway Police Commissionerate, had also reacted to the video a day after it was posted by Sood. “@SonuSood travelling on the footboard may be a source of ‘Entertainment’ in movies, not real life! Let’s follow all safety guidelines and ensure a ‘Happy New Year’ for all,” the tweet had read.

On the work front, Sonu’s action thriller film 'Fateh', will go on floors this year. Directed by Vaibhav Mishra, the film will be shot at various locations across Delhi and Punjab, and a special international crew will be flown in from Los Angeles to choreograph the action sequences.

Starring Sonu Sood and Jacqueline Fernandez, the film is produced by Zee Studios and Shakti Sagar Productions.
