While Vergara has topped the list with $43 million, Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie secured the second position ($35 million) and Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot ($31 million) stood third, reports forbes.com.
Forbes attributed Sofia's impressive earnings to her fat paycheck from Modern Family - $500,000 per episode - and also as a judge on reality TV show America's Got Talent, with an estimated $10 million per season.
Modern Family came to an end in April this year after successfully running for 11 seasons.
Most movie theatres have been shut since late March due to the pandemic.
It is said that many movie stars earn large bonuses based on box office performance, and the lack of new theatrical releases has made room at the top of the pay scale for TV stars like Vergara, "Grey's Anatomy" actress Ellen Pompeo (No. 8; $19 million) and "The Handmaid's Tale" actress Elisabeth Moss (No. 9; $16 million).
The fourth, fifth and sixth spots were grabbed by Melissa McCarthy ($25 million), Meryl Streep ($24 million) and Emily Blunt ($22.5 million) respectively. The list also features Nicole Kidman at no 7 with $22 million, Ellen Pompeo at 8th position with $19 million and Elisabeth Moss at no 9 with 16 million.
Viola Davis rounds off the list ranking at the 10th spot with $15.5 million.
Interestingly, Scarlett Johansson, who topped last year, couldn't make it to the top 10, reported Forbes.
No Indian actress made it to the list.
Earlier this year, Forbes reported actor Dwayne Johnson, with his earnings estimated at $87.5 million, to be the Highest Paid Actor of 2020. Bollywood star Akshay Kumar was the only Indian celebrity on the list, he held the fourth spot with his earnings estimated at $48.5 million.
