New Delhi: Chandigarh: Sidhu Moose Wala, the popular Punjabi singer shot dead in Punjab’s Manasa district on Sunday, May 29, was engaged to a girl from Sanghreri village of Sangrur district and was said to get married to her next month. The 28-year-old singer and politician’s murder by unidentified assailants in Jawaharke village of Mansa district left everyone shocked, with the Punjab Police claiming the Lawrence Bishnoi gang is behind the crime.

According to family sources, Sidhu was to marry his fiancée Amandeep Kaur in April this year but the wedding was postponed as he decided to contest the Punjab assembly election held in March, ABP Sanjha reported. He had contested the polls from Mansa on the Congress ticket but lost to Aam Aadmi Party’s Vijay Singla.

Both the families had kept the wedding plans a secret, but the villagers from Sanghreri started to talk about this after Sidhu’s death. An old video of his mother’s interview, which she gave a few months back, is now being shared widely where she can be heard saying that the singer was going to get married soon.
The ABP Sanjha report said veteran Akali leader Parkash Chand Garg met Amandeep Kaur’s family and expressed condolences.

According to some news reports, Amandeep Kaur lives in Canada and the two had been engaged for two years. The report said the two families were preparing for the wedding.
