New Delhi: Late singer Sidhu Moose Wala's life-size statue was unveiled in his village Mansa in Punjab. Sidhu’s father Balkaur Singh got emotional and broke down during the event.
His father said that it is so unfortunate to see his son in stone at the mere age of 28 years. Speaking with Times of India, Balkaur said, “I can't bear to see my son as a statue at 28. We wait for justice. The killers, whether sitting on foreign soil or here, should be punished. Why give security to someone who claims openly that he killed Moose Wala?"
The singer’s statue has been erected at the place where Sidhu was cremated and Sidhu's family has requested everyone to plant saplings around it.
Recently, an old picture of Sidhu with his father Balkaur Singh was shared on his Instagram handle.
In the picture, Sidhu is seen looking at his father, who is seen lying down on a cot while talking on his phone. Many fans and celebrities commented on the photo. Punjabi actor Sonam Bajwa wrote in the comments section, “Forever in our hearts ❤️.” Singer Sameer Jangid commented, “Bapu Tera Putt Star🌸❤️ (Father, your son is a star).” Singer Afsana Khan wrote, “Nazar lg gyi peo putt di jodi nu wmk 🙏💔😭.”
The 28-year-old singer was shot dead in Punjab's Mansa district on May 29. The incident took place a day after his security was withdrawn by the Punjab Police.
Punjab Police confirmed that gangster Lawrence Bishnoi has admitted to being the mastermind of the murder of the singer and was plotting the murder since August last year.
"The plan to carry out the killing was being hatched since August last year. According to our information, recce was done thrice. In January too, a different group of shooters had come to kill Moosewala but could not do so," Punjab Additional Director General of Police (Anti Gangster Task Force) Pramod Ban had told media.
Sidhu Moose Wala was immensely popular and has given many hit songs like like “So High”, “Bambiha Bole”, “295” among others.
