Like any other Indian, Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan on Friday expressed his heartbreak as the India women's hockey team got defeated by Great Britain and lost the bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics a day after the India men’s hockey team bagged the bronze medal at Tokyo 2020 Olympics after 41 years.
A disappointed Shah Rukh Khan took to his Twitter handle to laud the Indian team who has inspired millions from the country and wrote, “Heartbreak!!! But all reasons to hold our heads high. Well played Indian Women’s Hockey Team. You all inspired everyone in India. That itself is a victory.”
Earlier too, when the Indian Women’s Hockey Team had made it to the semifinals, Shah Rukh Khan had celebrated the milestone with a celebratory tweet. SRK was spotted rooting for the women’s team while reminiscing his role as coach Kabir Khan from his movie 'Chak De India' to bring a gold medal for the country.
Responding to a tweet, he had written, “Haan haan no problem. Just bring some Gold on your way back….for a billion family members. This time Dhanteras is also on 2nd Nov. From: Ex-coach Kabir Khan."
Meanwhile, after the Indian men's hockey team's bronze medal win too the actor wrote, "Wow!! Indian Men’s Hockey Team Congratulations. Resilience and skill at its peak. What an exciting match."
Shah Rukh, Khan is best remembered for the role of coach Kabir Khan in the hit 2007 sports drama Chak De! India, in which his character led an underdog women's hockey team to success.
