New Delhi: Veteran actor Sharmila Tagore celebrates her birthday on Thursday (December 8). As Sharmila turns 78, her granddaughter and actor Sara Ali Khan penned a note wishing her on her special day.
Sara took to Instagram stories and she shared a collage of pictures with her grandma. The first is a throwback picture of Sharmila's younger days while she holds little Sara. The second image has a grown-up Sara hugging her "badi amma".
She wrote: "Happiest birthday my dearest badi amma. Thank you for being our rock solid pillar of support. I love you so much and I truly aspire to be 1/10th of the woman you are. #grace #beauty #intelligence."
Sharmila made her acting debut at age 14 with Satyajit Ray's acclaimed Bengali drama 'The World of Apu' in 1959. She went on to collaborate with Ray on numerous other films, including; Devi (1960), Nayak (1966) and Aranyer Din Ratri among many others. She ventured into Hindi films with Kashmir Ki Kali (1964), Aamne Saamne (1967), Satyakam (1969), Aradhana (1969), Safar (1970), Amar Prem (1972), Daag (1973), Avishkaar (1974), Mausam (1975), Chupke Chupke (1975), and Namkeen (1982).
Earlier on Wednesday, Sara penned an emotional note on the occasion of the fourth anniversary of her debut film ‘Kedarnarth’. The actor reflected on her time on set and remembered her co-star, the late Sushant Singh Rajput.
On her Instagram profile, she posted a series of joyful moments from behind the scenes. In one of the photos, Sushant Singh Rajput can be seen in one of the pictures fixing Sara's headphones.
“4 years ago my biggest dream came true. It still feels like a dream and now perhaps always will. I’d do anything to go back to August 2017 and shoot every scene of this film again, relive every moment again, learn so much from Sushant about music, films, books, life, acting, stars and the sky, witness every sunrise, sunset and moonrise, listen to the sound of the river, enjoy every plate of Maggi and Kurkure, wake up at 4am to get ready, be introduced and directed by Gattu sir, and just be Mukku all over again. Thank you for a lifetime of memories,” she wrote in her moving post.
As Sara remembered her co-star from 'Kedarnath', Sushant Singh Rajput, the actor said, “And as the full moon shines bright tonight, I know Sushant is up there right by his favourite moon, shining like the bright star he always was and always will be. From Kedarnath to Andromeda.”
Sara will be seen in 'Gaslight' and Anurag Basu's recently announced 'Metro...Inn Dino' among many others.
