New Delhi: SS Rajamouli's 'RRR', featuring Jr NTR and Ram Charan, was considered as one of the biggest contenders for India’s official entry for Academy Awards 2023 but Gujarati film ‘Chhello Show’ was selected for the Oscars leaving many disappointed. Now the team of RRR has submitted in all 14 categories for Oscar 2023 under 'For your consideration (FYC) campaign.
RRR has been submitted for Best Motion Picture, Best Director (SS Rajamouli), Best Actor (Jr NTR and Ram Charan), Best Supporting Actor and Actress (Ajay Devgn and Alia Bhatt), Best Original Song for ‘Naatu Naatu’ and MM Keeravani's name has been nominated by the makers for Best Original Score.
Apart from this, the film has also been submitted for Best Original Screenplay, Best Cinematography, Best Production Design, Best Costume Design, Best Sound, Best Film Editing and Best Makeup & Hairstyling.
Makers of the film took to Twitter to share the news.
A tweet regarding the same was also shared by Los Angeles Times reporter Jen Yamato that read, “It’s official: #RRRMovie’s FYC awards/Oscars campaign is going for Best Picture, @ssrajamouli for Best Director, Actor (both Jr NTR & Ram Charan), Screenplay, Original Song, Score, Editing, Cinematography, Sound, Production Design, VFX and more categories #RRRforOscars #OscaRRRs”
'RRR' is a period action-drama, a fictional recreation of the historical lives of two Indian revolutionaries Alluri Sitarama Raju and Komaram Bheem. Ram Charan and Jr. NTR played the roles of these revolutionaries in the film.
‘RRR’ has got global acclaim with many big-league directors and film technicians rallying support for the film. Ram Charan and Jr. NTR starrer also won the Hollywood Critics Association Award as the Second Best Picture of the year. Variety.com had also mentioned the film as a possible contender at the Oscars and had also mentioned Jr. NTR in the list.
The Oscar 2023 nominations will be announced on January 24, 2023 while the ceremony will officially take place on March 12, 2023.
