Rema's Mumbai show was electrifying, with the Nigerian singer performing his hit single 'Calm Down' in front of a large crowd. Rema was joined at the Saturday concert by actor-dancer Nora Fatehi, who made him dance to her single, 'Dance Meri Rani'. She performed her signature dance moves from the song, and Rema attempted to imitate her flawlessly.
The duo's fans were overjoyed to see them dance together on stage. A fan commented on their viral video on Instagram, "Meri to nazar he nahi hat rahi Nora se (I can't take my eyes off Nora)." "Rema - bas kar pagli ab rulayegi kya" (Rema to Nora: Stop it or you'll make me cry) said another. A fan added, "Slayed as always."
Rema welcomed the Mumbai audience with "Kasa Kai Mumbai" and carried the tricolour throughout his performance. The concert was held at Worli's Dome, NSCI SVP Stadium.
The singer is currently on tour in India with his Rema Calm Down album. He has already performed in Delhi and Mumbai and will do so again on Sunday in Hyderabad. In an interview with PTI, he expressed a desire to work with Indian artists and mix traditional Indian music with Afrobeats.
"I can't stop listening to Indian music because the vocals are so emotional. Since I arrived in India, I've been listening to a lot of Indian music... AR Rahman is one of my favourite composers. We have a lot of love and respect for India and all of its creative talent back home. The way forward is to create a new sound that combines Afrobeats and Indian music," he said.
From paparazzi greeting him at the airport to getting a turban tied around his head, the 23-year-old said he was greeted in India with a "warm and vibrant" welcome.
"I had pretty garlands all around my neck, got someone to tie a turban on my head, and put a red bindi on my forehead," he said, "overwhelmed by the welcome he received in India. Some dancers performed Calm Down in their own Indian folk style. There is a lot of love here in India, and I am very excited to play for the audience here," he added further.
