New Delhi: Ranveer Singh is having bad luck at the box office with his three last films, ’83, Jayeshbhai Jordaar, and Cirkus, bombing at the ticket window. But his films’ dismal performance has not had any effect on his brand value, and the actor has surpassed cricketer Virat Kohli to become “the most valued celebrity of 2022,” with a brand value of $181.7 million (Rs 1500 crore), according to a report by corporate investigation and risk consulting firm Kroll.
Kohli, who was ruling the list for the last five years, is at the second spot now with a brand value of $176.9 million, according to the report titled “Celebrity Brand Valuation Report 2022: Beyond the Mainstream,” cited by Business Today.
Actor Akshay Kumar, who also has seen consecutive five flops, was on the third position with a brand value of $153.6 million (Rs 1200 crore).
Akshay is followed by Alia Bhatt and Deepika Padukone in the list of top 5 celebrities. Shah Rukh Khan is at the tenth position while Hrithik Roshan, Sachin Tendulkar, Amitabh Bachchan and MS Dhoni are also in the top 10 in this list.
Apart from these two Bollywood stars, south actors, Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna, also debuted on the list. Allu Arjun is ranked 20th with a brand value of $31.4 million (Rs 259 crore), while Rashmika Mandanna is at number 25 with a brand value of $25.3 million (Rs 209 crore).
Ranveer Singh will next be seen in Karan Johar’s directorial 'Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani’. The film is expected to mark the actor’s solid return in terms of box office numbers. The romantic comedy also stars Alia Bhatt and is set for a July release.
Meanwhile, Akshay Kumar has announced the release date of his upcoming film, which is the remake of the Tamil film 'Soorarai Pottru', which featured Suriya and Aparna Balamurali in the lead roles. On Tuesday, the actor unveiled the film poster, which will be released in theatres on September 1, 2023. The film also stars Radhika Madan.
