New Delhi: In recent weeks, Ranbir Kapoor has been busy promoting his father Rishi Kapoor's most recent film, ‘Sharmaji Namkeen’. Following the screening of Rishi Kapoor's last film, actor Ranbir Kapoor stated that his uncle Randhir Kapoor, who is suffering from dementia, had asked about his late brother Rishi Kapoor.
The Brahmastra actor shared in one of his interviews. In the conversation with NDTV, Ranbir revealed, “My uncle Randhir Kapoor, who is going through an early stage of dementia, and he came to me after the film, said, ‘Tell dad that he is amazing, and where is he, let’s call him’. Art crosses the boundaries of medical conditions… And a good piece of storytelling really embodies that.”
For those who are unfamiliar with the term, dementia is defined as the loss of cognitive functioning, which includes thinking, remembering, and reasoning. It begins to interfere with a person's ability to carry out his or her everyday tasks. Some persons who suffer from dementia are claimed to be unable to manage their emotions and to have changed personalities as a result.
Ranbir can be seen in an earlier promotional video for the film discussing his desire to work in the film using prosthetics. He said, “The show must go on — you all have heard it but I have seen my father live that.”
In Sharmaji Namkeen, a newly retired man rediscovers his love for cooking, which he shares with his wife and children. Rishi Kapoor and Paresh Rawal lead in the film, which also features Juhi Chawla and Suhail Nayyar. Other cast members include Taaruk Raina, Satish Kaushik, Sheeba Chaddha, and Isha Talwar, and it is directed by Hitesh Bhatia.
After Rishi Kapoor's death from cancer, Paresh Rawal stepped in to finish the rest of the shooting.
