New Delhi: Actor-producer Rana Daggubati is on the promotion tour of his upcoming web series 'Rana Naidu'. The actor spoke about the emergence of South films and the success and fan base some of its lead actors have acquired. In a recent interaction with a publication, the 'Baahubali' actor spoke about how until a few years ago, most audiences did not know the names of the most famous South actors and the one they did know was addressed as Chinu's husband.

In an interaction with The Indian Express, Rana shared that it has been his aim now to make films for every audience in the country. He then went on to recall a hilarious conversation with a friend in Mumbai a few years ago. "I was away for a few years while filming for Baahubali, so when I met this friend, I told him about the film. When he asked who was playing the titular role, I said Prabhas, and he was like ‘Who’s Prabhas?’ I didn’t know how to explain that to him so told him the names of his few films. He had not watched any of those films and then he told me something really crazy. He said the only Telugu actor I know is Chinu’s husband. I was wondering what he meant and then I realised that Chinu was Namrata Shirodkar. I was shocked that they knew of Mahesh Babu in that sense. I told him just wait for four-five years, and an army of us will land up here,” Rana shared.

Rana Daggubati is awaiting the release of 'Rana Naidu' which is the Indian adaptation of 'Ray Donovan'. The actor has teamed up with his uncle Venkatesh for the first time for a project.

'Rana Naidu' will be released on Netflix on March 10. The series also stars Surveen Chawla, Sushant Singh,  Gaurav Chopra, Ashish Vidyarthi, and Abhishek Banerjee.
