New Delhi: 'Raksha Bandhan' which released alongside 'Laal Singh Chaddha' is not faring any better than the latter on the box office. The Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar starrer registered no growth on Saturday. The Aanand L Rai directorial's collection stands at Rs. 20.6 crores in the first three-day total at the box office. Film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared the box office figures of 'Raksha Bandhan' of Day 3 on his official social media handle.
Taran Adarsh tweeted, "#RakshaBandhan shows no upturn on Day 3... Remains in the same range as Day 2, despite the weekend factor... 3-day total is definitely distressing... Needs to gather speed on the two big days [Sun-Mon]... Thu 8.20 cr, Fri 6.40 cr, Sat 6.51 cr. Total: ₹ 21.11 cr. #India biz."
Taran Adarsh also called the film's performance at the box office 'underperforming'. From the numbers shared, 'Raksha Bandhan' needs to do decent business on Sunday and Monday to be able to make an average recovery.
According to a Boxofficeindia.com report, 'Raksha Bandhan' is performing better in Hindi speaking belts of UP, CI and Rajasthan but not that great in Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Kolkata.
'Raksha Bandhan' although not riddled with 'boycott calls' like Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan starrer 'Laal Singh Chaddha' could have done better business in that regard. However, according to many analysts 'Laal Singh Chaddha's business is also suffering due to the massive boycott call campaigns that have been circulating online on various social media platforms.
Meanwhile, 'Raksha Bandhan' has been directed by Aanand L. Rai and written by Kanika Dhillon. The film revolves around the story of a doting brother and four sisters and how he wishes to get them married before he finally ties the knot with his ladylove in the film, Bhumi Pednekar.
