New Delhi: Rakhi Sawant was summoned by Amboli Police on Thursday (January 19) in connection with an FIR filed against her by Sherlyn Chopra. Rakhi has been summoned by the police for questioning.





Sherlyn had filed an FIR against Rakhi in November 2022 for alleged defamation. Chopra has accused Sawant of supporting director Sajid Khan — against whom Chopra had earlier lodged a complaint of molestation — and making defamatory and objectionable statements. 


FIR was registered against Sawant and her lawyer at Amboli police station under Indian Penal Code sections 354-A (sexual harassment), 500 (defamation) and sections of Information Technology Act. 


Like many other celebrities, Sherlyn Chopra had called out Colors channel for having Sajid Khan participate in the reality show 'Bigg Boss 16'. She had even lodged a complaint against the director. Meanwhile, when Rakhi Sawant defended Sajid Khan's right to work, Rakhi had told the paparazzi that the police know which complaint has merit and which does not.


Rakhi was supposed to launch her dance academy today at 3 pm, where she's partnered with her husband Adil Khan Durrani.

Meanwhile, Rakhi recently surprised everyone when she revealed about her wedding to Adil Khan. According to Rakhi, the couple got married in 2022 and she kept the marriage a secret at Adil’s request. Adil denied the wedding speculations at first but later acknowledged the wedding.


Adil shared a post on Instagram, confirming their marriage. He had said he was quiet as he had to handle a few issues. He shared their wedding picture and wrote "So here’s an announcement finally, I never said I am not married to you Rakhi. Just had to handle few things so had to be quiet, happy married life to us Rakhi (pappudi)."  


Rakhi and Adil got married on May 29, 2022. However, they kept it under wraps. 


It was a private affair. She has also converted to Islam for her nikah. 


"Yes, Rakhi has converted to Islam for her nikah and her name is Rakhi Sawant Fatima after marriage," Rakhi’s lawyer had told IANS.
