New Delhi: Popular comedian-actor Raju Srivastava, who is currently in AIIMS following a heart attack, continues to be "critical and on ventilator" in the intensive care unit (ICU).
"Srivastava continues to be critical and on ventilator in the ICU," the source told PTI.
His daughter Antara has said that his condition has ‘neither improved nor worsened. Raju’s daughter told TOI that he has no history of heart conditions and her mother is with him right now. “The entire medical team is doing their best. We are praying and hoping he will be fine soon. My mother is with him right now inside the ICU,” Antara was quoted as saying by The Times of India.
The 58-year-old stand-up comic was admitted to the hospital after suffering a heart attack on Wednesday during working out in a gym and later underwent angioplasty.
The comedian is being treated by Dr. Nitish Naik, a professor at the department of cardiology at the AIIMS.
According to IANS, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Friday, telephoned Raju Srivastava's wife Shikha to enquire about his health and offered support.
Besides, Prime Minister Modi, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath have spoken to the family of Raju Srivastava to enquire about his condition.
Yogi Adityanath has also ordered the Resident Commissioner of Uttar Pradesh to be in touch with the comedian's family and hospital authorities.
Srivastava's team had shared an official update on social media on Thursday, asking his fans to keep him in their thoughts and prayers.
Srivastava's cousin Ashok Srivastava had on Wednesday evening said the comic suffered a heart attack while exercising.
"He was doing his routine exercise and while he was on the treadmill, he suddenly fell down. He suffered a heart attack and was immediately taken to the AIIMS hospital," he had told PTI, adding that the Raju's wife Shikha Srivastava had reached Delhi.
On the work front, Raju Srivastav has carved a niche for himself in the world of stand-up comedy with his well-timed jokes and comic takes on some very relevant situations in life. He rose to fame with the first of its kind stand-up comedy talent hunt show 'The Great Indian Laughter Challenge', with its first season premiering in the year 2005
He has appeared in Hindi films such as 'Maine Pyar Kiya', 'Baazigar', 'Bombay to Goa' (remake) and 'Aamdani Atthani Kharcha Rupaiya'. He was one of the contestants on 'Bigg Boss' season three.
