Although Thalaiva has mostly worked in Tamil films in the South, his fame has spread across the country and even around the world. On Monday, as India celebrated its 75th year of independence, South megastar Rajinikanth reached the milestone of 47 years of working in the film industry.

Aishwaryaa Rajinikanth, who is a filmmaker and his daughter, sent a sweet note on social media to commemorate the special occasion. She shared a snapshot with her father and wrote, “76 years of independence 🇮🇳 saluting sacrifices, struggles n strength.. #proudindian🇮🇳 47 years of #rajinism .. sheer hard work grit n dedication! proud to born to him #prouddaughter❤️”

Soundarya also sent her father well wishes and wrote, "47 years of pure magic ! You are God's child dearest appa. You are an emotion that words cannot explain. Love you Thalaivaaa #47YearsOfRajinism."

Rajinikanth was most recently seen in the film Annaatthe, which was released on Diwali of the previous year. The movie also starred Keerthy Suresh and Nayanthara in addition to Rajinikanth. Jailer, a film directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, will be the next endeavour for the seasoned actor. Sun Pictures, which financed the superstar's last film Annaatthe, is also providing finance for this movie.

Rajinikanth made his cinematic debut in the 1975 Tamil film Apoorva Raagangal. The actor had to start off in negative and supporting parts before he was cast as the film's protagonist. Apart from Tamil, he has also acted in films in Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, and Bengali, making him one of the most prolific actors in cinematic history. He was honoured for his work in Indian film with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 2021.
