Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty’s husband Raj Kundra is trending big time on social media after he was arrested on late Monday night by Mumbai Police for allegedly making pornographic content and publishing them through mobile applications.
Raj Kundra was arrested around 11 PM on Monday night after which was taken to JJ Hospital in Mumbai, where his medical was done. He will appear in the court today i.e. on Tuesday.
Meanwhile following his arrest, an old tweet of Raj Kundra questioning the legality of prostitution and porn started making rounds on social media. In the tweet dated March 29, 2012, Raj Kundra questioned why it was legal to pay someone for sex on camera, asking how prostitution was different from porn.
Another tweet of Kundra has also gone viral on Twitter from May 3, 2012. Here the businessman says that in India, 'actors are playing cricketers, cricketers are playing politicians, politicians are watching porn while porn stars are becoming actors.'
Both the tweets are being shared by netizens who are taking a dig at Raj Kundra following his arrest.
According to a statement by the Mumbai Police Crime Branch, Raj Kundra 'appears to be the main conspirator' in a case to do with the creation and publishing of pornographic films via apps. He was summoned by the Mumbai Police on Monday evening following which he was arrested.
"A case was registered with the Crime Branch about the creation of pornographic films and publishing them through some apps. We've arrested Raj Kundra in this case as he appears to be the key conspirator," said Mumbai Police Commissioner Hemant Nagrale."We have sufficient evidences regarding this. Further investigation is in progress," he added.
So far, 10 accused have been arrested in the case, including Kundra.
On a related note, Raj Kundra and Shilpa Shetty had tied the knot on November 22, 2009 after dating for a few years. The couple welcomed their first child, Viaan Raj Kundra, three years later in 2012. They welcomed their second child, daughter Samisha, through surrogacy last year.
