The sensational porn films racket case in which Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty’s husband and businessman Raj Kundra has been named as the prime accused is getting murkier with each passing day. Every day some new shocking revelations are being made in the case and a new update surrounding the case is that Raj Kundra aimed at earning Rs 34 crores by 2023 through his porn apps according to a report published in TOI.
After the magistrate's court has sent Raj Kundra to judicial custody for 14 days on Tuesday, his financials are being closely monitored and recent revelations suggest that he earned around Rs 1.17 crore between August and December last year. Meanwhile, terming the arrest as illegal, Kundra’s lawyers have moved High Court for his bail. Raj Kundra’s bail appeal will be heard by the court on July 29.
The Mumbai Police told a court on Tuesday that this revenue was earned from the alleged porn app on the Apple store and while the police have sought information from Google too where the app had more users. The app was used by Raj Kundra for the online distribution of porn films.
During their investigation, the Mumbai Police have raided several of Raj Kundra’s properties in Mumbai. They found a hidden cupboard in one of his offices in Andheri that contained several documents of financial truncations and cryptocurrency. The cops have also seized his laptop and a SAN (Storage Area Network) box. Officials told a Ieading website, “We accessed 48 TB data. Huge data was deleted once our case was filed on instructions from Raj Kundra. Also, after Kundra’s arrest, more data was deleted.”
The investigating officers are also probing the role of Shilpa Shetty’s involvement in the same after the Bombay High Court adjourned the bail plea of Raj Kundra. “Shilpa Shetty hasn't been given clean chit yet. All possibilities/angles are being probed. Forensic auditors are appointed and they are looking into the transactions of all accounts in this case” said the Mumbai Crime Branch to ANI.
For the uninitiated, the Mumbai Police arrested Kundra on July 19 in the sensational case of producing and distributing pornographic content through mobile applications. Soon after arrest, he was remanded to police custody till July 23, which was extended till July 27, and on Tuesday he was sent to judicial custody till August 10. Kundra has been charged with offences under various provisions of Indian Penal Code, IT Act and Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act.
