In a major swoop, the Mumbai Police late on Monday arrested businessman Raj Kundra, husband of Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty for allegedly making pornographic content and publishing them through mobile applications.

Raj Kundra was arrested around 11 PM on Monday night after which he was kept at the Mumbai Crime Branch office. Kundra will appear in the court today i.e. on Tuesday. Meanwhile late in the night, Raj Kundra was taken to JJ Hospital in Mumbai, where his medical was done.

The shocking action was based on a case registered by the police in February this year, Mumbai Police Commissioner Hemant Nagrale said in a late night statement. Thereafter, Kundra, a British-Indian businessman, was being investigated by the Crime Branch-CID of Mumbai Police.

Raj Kundra was called in by the Property Cell of the Crime Branch for questioning. Reportedly, the businessman was questioned by the investigating officers for questioning and after hours of interrogation, he was arrested.

"A case was registered with the Crime Branch about the creation of pornographic films and publishing them through some apps. We've arrested Raj Kundra in this case as he appears to be the key conspirator," said Nagrale.

"We have sufficient evidences regarding this. Further investigation is in progress," he added. So far, 10 accused have been arrested in the case, including Kundra.

On a related note, Raj Kundra and Shilpa Shetty had tied the knot on November 22, 2009 after dating for a few years. The couple welcomed their first child, Viaan Raj Kundra, three years later in 2012. They welcomed their second child, daughter Samisha, through surrogacy last year.
