Radhika Apte, who is now busy promoting her film 'Monica, O My Darling', spoke candidly about ageism in Bollywood. She alleged that younger actors had won commercial films away from her.

During the ongoing film promotions, Apte talked about her thoughts on the issue and how people have treatments and corrections to seem younger. Recently, Radhika Apte was asked whether she ever felt rejected since other actresses are given more credit. In response, the actor told the host of the show Siddharth Kannan,“There’s truth to this, but it becomes sensationalized and it changes its tonality. Age is a factor and you cannot deny the fact that people want younger actresses in bigger commercial films; it’s just a fact, a younger or conventional image that they want. There have been days where you are told that ‘yeah you don’t have xyz’ and we need xyz".

"You can see the number of surgeries people do. There is an image that we are chasing and not just in India, across the globe, which a lot of women are fighting against,” she further added.

In light of what Apte said earlier this year that made the headlines, the 37-year-old actor was asked about it. Earlier in 2022, Radhika spoke with Hindustan Times and stated,“What I’m really struggling with is (people unable) to combat age, especially in the industry with people going through surgeries. I know so many of my colleagues who have gone through so many surgeries to change their faces and bodies.”

The crime comedy thriller film 'Monica, O My Darling', in which Radhika Apte stars, is directed by Vasan Bala. Along with Apte, Rajkummar Rao and Huma Qureshi also star in this movie. The Netflix original that released on November 11 is available for streaming on the platform.
