New Delhi: In the history of Bengali cinema, Prasun Chatterjee's ‘Dostojee’ is the first time a trailer of a Bengali movie has been shown on Times Square Billboard, New York. the movie was a smashing success in Bengali theatres, and now it's a smashing success in theatres throughout the world. You could say it's a first in the annals of Bengali cinema, and you wouldn't be wrong.

Talking about the same, Prasun told ETimes, “I can’t express in words how it felt when I saw Dostojee’s trailer Times Square Billboards. Just imagine a Bengali film’s trailer is being shown alongside the big budget Hollywood movies. On one side Arif and Asif’s scene on display and just beside I can see Ronaldo on the huge screen! It’s unbelievable. This is not only my personal achievement but also it’s a significant moment for Bengali cinema over all. We have to show that just like any other Indian language films, contemporary Bengali cinema is also important and have a greater impact. If this continues then I believe we will be able to slowly find our place in the international film market or film distribution.”
The Bengali film has received already accolades at film festivals across the globe. Prasun claims that the majority of the cast of ‘Dostojee,’ including the child performers, are locals from the area around the border shown in the film. The film on religious harmony issues a passionate plea for unity.
