New Delhi: AAP MP Raghav Chadha and Parineeti Chopra are getting engaged on May 13 in a traditional ceremony at Kapurthala House, Connaught Place, Delhi. A video of Kapurthala house is doing the rounds on the internet, in which a few staff members are spotted outside the venue as they carry plywood and other decor items. Parineeti’s Mumbai house was also fully decorated with lights on Friday.
According to reports, the engagement ceremony will begin at 5 p.m. with the chanting of the Sukhmani Sahib from the Guru Granth Sahib, the holy book of the Sikhs, which will be followed by the 'ardas' or the holy prayer.
There will reportedly be 150 guests in the ceremony. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, his Punjab counterpart, Bhagwant Mann, designer Manish Malhotra, Karan Johar, Sania Mirza are expected to attend the engagement.
Parineeti’s cousin Priyanka Chopra is also expected to attend the engagement ceremony.
Talking to Hindustan Times, a source said, “It will be a short trip for Priyanka. She has kept her work aside just to be there for the occasion and be there for her sister. She will be reaching Delhi on the 13th morning. Her husband Nick Jonas is not expected to accompany her, and it is yet to be seen if she brings her daughter, Malti as a surprise for the family.”
Kapurthala House is now the official residence of the Governor and Chief Minister of Punjab whenever they are in the city. It was last occupied by Maharaja Paramjit Singh of Kapurthala, who sold it to a businessman named Radheshyam Makhanlal Seksaria in 1950, but it was later requisitioned by the Government of India.
According to India Today, the food menu at Parineeti and Raghav's engagement ceremony will be a mix of Indian cuisine, including kebabs. The report claims that Parineeti's brothers Sahaj and Shivang are looking after the preparations. The menu will also include vegan options.
While Parineeti will be dressed in a Manish Malhotra ensemble, Raghav has chosen a minimalist achkan designed by fashion designer Pawan Sachdeva. Their outfits for the evening will be colour-coordinated.
According to Hindustan Times, Sachdeva has designed a mid-thigh ivory achkan in pure khadi silk teamed with ivory pants and a matching kurta with texturing on the collar, placket and cuffs.
“Raghav prefers to keep it minimal and classy, so I haven’t done any kind of work on the achkan. I have added a subtle hint of colour with the blush pink lining inside the achkan and a pocket square in the same hue,” the designer told Hindustan Times.
The two became the talk of the town when they were spotted twice in Mumbai in March. Since then, they have been spotted together many times.
