New Delhi: On Sunday night, a sneak peek of ‘The Archies’, Zoya Akhtar's upcoming adaptation of tales from Archies Comics, was released. Star kids Suhana Khan (daughter of Shah Rukh Khan), Agastya Nanda (grandson of Amitabh Bachchan), and Khushi Kapoor (daughter of Sridevi) all make their cinematic debuts in this 60s-inspired project. The trailer premiered in Sao Paulo, Brazil during Netflix's annual Tudum event. ‘The Archies’ is an adaptation of the classic comic book series set in the 1960s in the fictitious town of Riverdale.
Netflix has officially released a short teaser trailer of ‘The Archies’. Filmmaker Zoya Akhtar and other cast members took to their social media accounts and wrote, "Are you ready to go back in time? Welcome To The Archies."
At the beginning of the trailer, we see a train arrive at the Riverdale station. Given that Riverdale is an Indian hill station, the sign has been translated into Hindi as well. The town has a cool, anglo-Indian atmosphere thanks to its magnificent promenade, vintage automobiles, and hippie residents. Next, we see Suhana, who plays Veronica and Khushi, who portrays Betty. The characters' journeys through love, friendship, and heartbreak are shown via both lighthearted classroom dancing scenes and darker times.
Talking about the film Zoya Akhtar had said earlier, "It's been an absolute honour to be asked to make an Indian adaptation and the first-ever film for the very iconic Archies franchise. This is a surreal experience since Archie Comics was a part of my childhood."
The release date of the film has not yet been announced.
