New Delhi: 'Taali' starring Sushmita Sen as transgender activist Shreegauri Sawant is out. Sushmita Sen plays the titular role in the series inspired by true events and the 'Taali' trailer is nothing short of awe-inspiring. Loosely adapted from Sheegauri Sawant's real life, 'Taali' looks like a heart-wrenching ode to Sawant's journey; a part Sushmita Sen seems to have aced perfectly; from the tone of voice to the mannerisms of transgender people that are shown in the series.


Film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared the 'Taali' trailer on his official Twitter handle and wrote, "SUSHMITA SEN AS SHREEGAURI SAWANT: ‘TAALI’ TRAILER OUT NOW… A story of courage, resilience and triumph… #SushmitaSen - in the most challenging role of her career- looks terrific… Goosebumps… This is going to be a must watch."


 






Sushmita Sen's screen presence is striking in Taali's trailer. Sushmita looks fierce and determined as someone who is organically inspired by the journey of the person whose journey she portrays on screen. 


In the 'Taali' trailer, Sushmita's journey as Shreegauri Sawant is traced right from the school days from Ganesh's transformation to Gauri and their acceptance into the transgender community.


We also see Gauri filing a petition in the Supreme Court for recognition of rights of Transgender people as part of the census and general population in India.


Sushmita Sen also shared the teaser and wrote, "Gauri aa gayi hai. Apne swabhimaan, sammaan aur swatantrata ki kahaani lekar. Taali - Bajayenge nahi, bajwayenge (Gauri is here to fight for her respect and independence. She will no clap byt make others clap for her) ! Taali on JioCinema, streaming free 15 August onwards.”


Many Sushmita's fans praised her bravery and choice for taking on such a bold role to portray in 'Taali'. 'Taali' is directed by National FIlm Award-winning director Ravi Jadhav.


Meanwhile, Sushmita Sen was last seen in the titular role of 'Aarya' Season 2', in which she portrayed the role of a Rajasthani woman. 


'Taali' will begin streaming on JioCinema from August 15, 2023.
