New Delhi: The newest web series from Shabana Azmi, 'Dabba Cartel', has been generating a lot of buzz because of its captivating plot and stellar performances. In the latest interview with India Today, Shabana Azmi talked about the similarities and differences between Dimple Kapadia's 'Saas, Bahu Aur Flamingo' (2023) and her own Netflix series.
Shabana Azmi revealed that she felt comforted after seeing Saas, Bahu Aur Flamingo, despite her initial fear over the similarities. She said, “Prior to watching the show, I was concerned that we would be directly compared to the show. However, Shibani (Shibani Akhtar) was confident and assured me that it won’t happen. Seeing her belief, I was also relieved. And when I watched the show, it was really a well-made show, but it is quite different from ours.”
The actress made it clear that in contrast to the exotic setting of 'Saas, Bahu Aur Flamingo', 'Dabba Cartel' depicts middle-class women realistically. Azmi said, "They have a completely different setup, quite exotic. Their outfits are very unique and they also have a specific dialect. Our show is very realistic, about these middle-class women. Hence, I really don’t think there is any comparison."
