Dupahiya review: If a series keeps you hooked for all nine episodes, compels you to rewind certain scenes, and leaves you wanting to watch it again, then it’s safe to say it’s an absolute winner. Prime Video’s ‘Dupahiya’ is precisely that—a show that delivers private jet-level entertainment under the guise of a humble ride. It’s a long-overdue family-friendly gem that brings back the charm of ‘Panchayat’, and in some ways, even surpasses it. For Prime Video, Dopahiya might just be its very own Mercedes in the comedy-drama space.

Dupahiya plot

Set in the village of Dhadhakpur, where no crime has been reported in 24 years, 'Dupahiya' unfolds a hilarious yet intriguing story. If the village maintains its crime-free status for another year, it will be rewarded with a state-sponsored water project. But chaos ensues when a two-wheeler is stolen—a bike that was painstakingly bought by a father as a wedding gift for his soon-to-be son-in-law, who had adamantly refused to marry without it. The plot thickens as the search for the missing vehicle takes unexpected turns, keeping viewers engaged across nine entertaining half-hour episodes.

What makes Dupahiya stand out?

In one word—brilliance. From sharp writing and seamless direction to pitch-perfect performances and impeccable execution, the series delivers on every front. Right from the first scene, it grips you, and each moment adds value. There isn’t a single scene that feels redundant; in fact, by the time the ninth episode ends, you wish there were more. The humor is natural, and the show balances laughter with subtle yet impactful social commentary. Issues like society’s obsession with fair skin and dowry culture are woven into the narrative with finesse, making the series more than just a lighthearted watch. Dupahiya is a rare gem that the entire family can enjoy together.

Performances

Every actor in the series delivers a stellar performance. Gajraj Rao, as always, is flawless—his acting is beyond critique at this point. Renuka Shahane is a revelation, impressing with her impeccable grasp of the local dialect. Sparsh Srivastava, fresh off 'Laapataa Ladies', once again proves his mettle with an entertaining and effortless performance. Bhuvan Arora continues to showcase his immense talent, cementing his status as a rising star. Shivani Raghuvanshi delivers a commendable performance, while Yashpal Sharma is perfectly cast as the no-nonsense police officer.
