Ashish Chanchlani is stepping down as host of a Valentine's Day screening of 'Marvel's Captain America: Brave New World' in Mumbai. The YouTuber announced on Instagram that he will no longer be doing the hosting duties for the film. This comes after he along with 'India's Got Latent' show host Samay Raina, YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia, and other guests on the show landed in legal trouble over charges of obscenity.
While Ashish did not mention his legal trouble, he said that he will not be hosting the screening due to his ill health. He wrote, "Hello doston, I am not keeping well, so unfortunately I won't be able to attend & host the screening of the film 'Captain America: Brave New World' on Valentine's Day. But, don't worry, those who are selected can still go & enjoy the show. I know, I am gonna miss y'all so much! Love you 3000.”
How did it all begin?
Ranveer, aka Beerbiceps, made an incestuous comment in one of the episodes of 'India's Got Latent' which featured Ashish, Samay, Apoorva Mukhija and others. As per PTI, the Mumbai police recorded statements of seven people, including Ashish on Thursday. ANI reported that the Assam Police has issued new summons to Ashish Chanchlani, Ranveer Allahbadia, Apoorva Makhija, Jaspreet Singh, and others following a complaint accusing them of promoting obscenity. A senior official from the Assam Police confirmed that a team has been dispatched to Mumbai to continue the investigation.
Ranveer’s statement
After the social media uproar, Ranveer apologised for his remarks, calling it a 'lack of judgment' on his part. He said, "I don't want to be the kind of person who takes that responsibility lightly. Family is the last thing that I would ever disrespect. I need to use this platform better,” he said in a video he posted.
Samay’s statement
Samay also broke his silence on the controversy and stated that he had deleted all India’s Got Latent episodes from YouTube. "My only objective was to make people laugh and have a good time. I will fully cooperate with all agencies to ensure their inquiries are concluded fairly,” he wrote.
