New Delhi: Netflix India has unveiled a glimpse of the highly anticipated film ‘Chamkila’, directed by Imtiaz Ali and starring Diljit Dosanjh and Parineeti Chopra. The movie delves into the life of the legendary Punjabi singer Amar Singh Chamkila and his wife, Amarjot Kaur, captivating audiences with its teaser and announcing its release date.


In a teaser shared on their Instagram handle, Netflix India offers a peek into the essence of "Chamkila." With Diljit Dosanjh's voiceover in the background pondering, "What do people want to hear? What brings them joy?" followed by the assurance, "I can do that." 


The teaser also treats viewers to a glimpse of the film's title track. Accompanying the teaser, Netflix India captioned, "Maahaul bann jaata tha jab vo chedta tha saaz, kuch aisa hi tha Chamkila ka Andaaz (The atmosphere would electrify when he strummed the strings, that's how Chamkila was) @imtiazaliofficial’s #AmarSinghChamkila arriving on 12 April, only on Netflix!"




‘Chamkila’ is set to premiere exclusively on Netflix on April 12.


Fans will get to experience the enchantment of a Rahman-Imtiaz-Irshad collaboration once again as maestro AR Rahman composes the score and Irshad Kamil writes the lyrics. Diljit and Parineeti's vocal contributions to a few of the songs are sure to get people pumped up!


Parineeti Chopra on ‘Chamkila’


Parineeti Chopra plays Chamkila's wife and singing partner Amarjot in the movie. In an earlier interview with ETimes, Parineeti Chopra revealed her motivation for signing the film. She said, “One of the main reasons I did this film was because I was getting to sing some 15 songs for it. It was during this film that my co-star, Diljit, heard me sing and told me to pursue live performances. Everyone around me used to constantly put this thought in my head that I could be on stage.”
