New Delhi: Veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah is suffering from a disorder known as 'onomatomania'. He revealed his condition in an interview.
A person suffering from this illness becomes obsessed with or focused on a phrase or a word for an extended length of time, which may seem weird at first. It is a genuine medical ailment that affects individuals all around the globe.
Naseeruddin Shah confirmed that it is a real thing in an interview with the YouTube channel ‘Chalchitra Talks’. He said, “I suffer from an ailment called onomatomania. I’m not joking. It’s a medical condition. You can check it in the dictionary.”
He explained the ailment, saying, “Onomatomania is an ailment in which you keep repeating a word or a phrase, a sentence or a verse or a speech for no reason at all. Except that you like to hear it. I do it all the time so I am never quite at rest. Even when I am sleeping, I am going over some passage I love.”
The actor said that it is due to this problem that he finds himself repeating a word or a phrase over and over again and is unable to relax even when he wants to.
Naseeruddin Shah was most recently seen in Shakun Batra's Gehraiyaan. In the film, he portrayed Deepika Padukone's father. The film was released on February 11 on Amazon Prime Video.
Following that, the legendary actor will be seen in Vishal Bhardwaj's forthcoming film, 'Kuttey'.
