Yes Bank Crisis: ‘My Father’s Rs 2 Cr Are Stuck In Bank’- EX Bigg Boss Contestant Payal Rohatgi

Payal Rohatgi, while talking to ABP News, revealed that her father was left in a state of shock after hearing about Yes Bank crisis.

New Delhi: The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) imposed a moratorium of cash-ridden Yes Bank and also capped the withdrawals to Rs 50,000 per account for a month. After the RBI directive, several account holders have been left high and dry. Among those affected is actress Payal Rohatgi’s father Shashank Rohatgi. The ‘Bigg Boss 2’ contestant’s father’s funds are also stuck in the bank.

Payal Rohatgi, in an exclusive interview with ABP News correspondent Ravi Jain, said that her father's funds worth Rs 2 crore are stuck in Yes Bank.

My father had opened his account with Yes Bank in Gurgaon in 2009 and he transferred the account to Ahmedabad’s Subhash Chowk 7 years back.- Payal Rohatgi

70-year-old Shashank Rohatgi is suffering from cancer and other age related ailments since the past few years. Payal informed that her father became distressed after hearing the news about Yes Bank crisis. Her family members will also have to face difficulty in gathering funds for his medical treatment, the actress informed.


Payal Rohatgi further said that her father had started the procedure of withdrawing all his money from Yes Bank and depositing it to another bank on Thursday (March 5).

The bank officials had even assured him to issue the cheque. He was supposed to collect the cheque on Thursday. However, the announcement by RBI has left him in state of shock,- Payal Rohatgi

My father had been hearing about the issues in Yes Bank since a year now. Therefore, he wanted to transfer his account to another bank. The Yes Bank officials repeatedly assured him that the situation was under control. Hence, he delayed his decision to not close his account with the bank.- Payal Rohatgi

Interestingly, Payal Rohatgi had expressed her concern on Twitter yesterday after hearing the news of Yes Bank crisis. She tagged the Prime Minister’s Office and the Home Minister and requested them to help.



“Get #YesBank to function @PMOIndia @HMOIndia. This is not done. My fathers fund are stuck. This is not a sign of blooming economy," Payal’s now deleted tweet read.
