New Delhi: Bollywood actress Yami Gautam, who is basking in the success of her last releases 'Uri: The Surgical Strike' alongside Vicky Kaushal and 'Bala' co-starring Ayushmann Khurrana & Bhumi Pednekar, was in Assam yesterday (March 1) to inaugurate the Great Guwahati Marathon. At Guwahati Airport, an excited fan tried to welcome Yami Gautam by putting an Assamese gamosa, a traditional scarf, around her neck without taking her permission. The actress, who was unaware about the fan's intent, pushed his hand away.

The video of this incident went viral all over the Internet post which netizens slammed Yami for insulting the gamosa which is a traditional Assamese garment. However, the actress finally took to her social media account and reacted on the whole incident. Responding to a tweet by an Assamese media outlet, Yami clarified that her action was simply self defense.

Sharing her side on Twitter, Yami Gautam wrote, "My reaction was simply self defense. As a woman,if I am uncomfortable with anyone getting too close to me, I or any other girl has every right to express it. I Dint’ intend to hurt anyone's sentiments but it's very important to voice out a behavior, inappropriate in any manner."
