Mumbai: New Zealand on Wednesday (June 23) defeated India by eight wickets at The Rose Bowl in Southampton to claim the World Test Championship title. Several Bollywood and TV celebs lauded the Kiwis for becoming the inaugural World Test Champions. 


Rahul Bose shared an appreciation post for the New Zealand team on Twitter for clinching the victory. He tweeted, “Congratulations @BLACKCAPS. You deserve every bit of this victory. Hard work, superb bowling skills and great temperament. A superb example to sportspersons everywhere. #worldtestchampions.” 



Filmmaker Kunal Kohli wrote, "#WTC2021Final what a turnaround. In the weather. And the game. #INDvNZ #NewZealand has so far outplayed us totally. They need 47 to win as I type this. Only a miracle can save us now. Well played #NZ."


The 'Hum Tum' director was all praises for former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar. He tweeted. "Let’s just take a moment to say there is no better commentator in the world than Sunil Gavaskar . Ever. Needless to say one of the best batsmen in the world too. Ever."




 

Aftab Shivdasani, who watched the match at Ageas Bowl, wrote, "Such amazing display of cricket in difficult conditions with unpredictable weather. To come out on top inspite everything required discipline, hard work and grit. In the end the better team won. Well played @BLACKCAPS, truly deserved. My heart bleeds for India." 

 


 

Kyle Jamieson was awarded the Man of the Match award for his brilliant knock in the second innings of the test match.
