New Delhi: Madhuri Dixit posted a heartfelt letter on her Instagram account in memory of her mother Snehalata Dixit, who passed away early on Saturday. The actor shared an old picture of them on Instagram as a way to remember her. Madhuri and her mother were seen in the shot, possibly in their house.

“Woke up this morning to find Aai’s room empty. It feels surreal. She taught us to embrace and celebrate life. She gave so much to so many people. We will miss her dearly but she will live on in our memories. Her wit, positivity and grace were infectious. We will celebrate her life together through our memories. Om shanti om,” Madhuri wrote in the caption.

In the comments section, fans and prominent people prayed for the soul of the deceased.

In a press release sent to the media, Madhuri and Dr. Shriram Nene announced Snehalata's passing. “Our beloved Aai, Snehalata Dikshit, passed away peacefully this morning surrounded by her loved ones,” it read.

A lot of renowned people, including Madhuri, her husband Dr. Shriram Nene, and their younger son Ryan, attended her final rites in Worli's Vaikunth Dham. Mickey Contractor, a prominent make-up artist, and Amritpal Singh Bindra, a film producer, were among those seen making their way to the funeral.

The youngest of Snehalata's children is Madhuri. She has one elder brother and two elder sisters. In 2013, at the age of 91, their father, Shankar Dixit, passed away.

On the work front, the last movie Madhuri Dixit appeared in was 'Maja Ma', which was released on Amazon Video last year. It also featured Gajraj Rao and was directed by Anand Tiwari. The drama series 'The Fame Game' on Netflix marked Madhuri's comeback into acting.
