Mumbai: Bollywood actor Riteish Deshmukh remembered his father and former Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh on his ninth death anniversary on Saturday (August 14). The ‘Housefull’ actor got emotional while penning his thoughts on social media. Riteish shared a series of photos wherein his kids, Riaan and Rahyl, can be seen offering prayers in front of their grandfather’s portrait.  


Riteish and Genelia’s D’Souza’s children were born after the demise of Vilasrao Deshmukh. The ‘Masti’ star lamented that his kids were not able to meet their grandfather while sharing the post on his official Instagram handle. 


Fans have floooded the comments section with their messages. Tiger Shroff dropped hearts emojis on the post.

Riteish shared a clip along with the caption, "I talk to you every day Pappa, I know you hear me." Abhishek Bachchan, Bobby Deol and other tinsel town celebs commented on the post.



Riteish posted a throwback Tik-Tok video wherein he can be seen looking at his father’s clothes that are hung on a hanger. He put his hand through the sleeves of his father's kurta and imagined himself hugging the late politician. The caption for the post read, "Miss you everyday Papa."



Genelia also penned a heartfelt post to remember her father-in-law. She wrote, "I know this is the look, you have on all of us, wherever you are, because our loved ones never ever really leave us, they keep loving us, looking after us, showing us the right path and for me it’s the highest form of love, to just be able to feel it even when you don’t see it.. We Miss You Papa. I’m sure you spreading your charm, wherever you are."



Vilasrao Deshmukh, who passed away on August 14, 2012, served as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra from 1999 to 2003 and 2004 to 2008. He died due to multiple organ failure. 


Talking about Riteish Deshmukh, the actor was last seen in Tiger Shroff and Shraddha Kapoor starrer ‘Baaghi 3’. He recently commenced the shoot for 'Kakuda'. The 'Ek Villain' star also has a yet-to-be titled Netflix film in his kitty.
