Mumbai: Bollywood celebs including Kangana Ranaut, Rhea Chakraborty, Sonu Sood and Swara Bhasker have expressed their concerns over the current situation in Afghanistan. The tinsel town stars shared posts on social media to express their worry over the crisis in the war-torn country after Taliban took control of Kabul on Sunday (August 15). 


Hema Malini's Throwback Video Of Arriving At Kabul's Airport Goes Viral


Amid Taliban’s takeover in Afghanistan, a video of veteran actors Feroz Khan and Hema Malini arriving at the Kabul airport is going viral on social media. The video was originally shared by an Instagram handle named Retro Bollywood. For the uninitiated, Hema and Feroz shot for their film ‘Dharmatma’ in Afghanistan in the 70s.  


The Afghani dignitaries can be seen greeting the Bollywood actors at the airport in the viral video. Hema Malini donned a saree while her co-star Feroz wore a suit. In the second half, Hema, Feroz and other actors are seen at a high-profile party. Check out the throwback video! 



Hema Malini Shares Post Amid Tension In Afghanistan


Bollywood's 'Dream Girl' recalled her fond memories of shooting for 'Dharmatma' in Afghanistan. She shared posters of the film on Twitter and said that her entire portion was shot in the country.


"What is happening to a happy, once peaceful nation, Afghanistan, is truly sad. My great memories of Afghanistan date back to ‘Dharmatma’- I play a gypsy girl & my portion was shot entirely there. Had a great time as my parents were with me and Feroz Khan took good care of us," Malini tweeted.



Bollywood Films Which Were Shot In Afghanistan


‘Dharmatma’, produced and directed by Feroz Khan, is the first Bollywood film to be shot in Afghanistan. The movie also starred Rekha, Premnath,  Danny Denzongpa, Farida Jalal and Ranjeet in key roles. The thriller released in July 1975 and emerged as a massive hit at the box office.  


Amitabh Bachchan starrer 'Khudaw Gawah' was filmed in the cities of Kabul and Mazar-i-Sharif. The epic drama co-starring late Sridevi created ripples upon release. 



Bollywood filmmaker Kabir Khan shot for 'Kabul Express' in Afghanistan. The movie starring John Abraham and Arshad Warsi marked Kabir's debut as as a director.
