On 21st Kargil Vijay Diwas this Sunday, Flight Lieutenant Gunjan Saxena (retired), paid respect to the brave martyrs and their families in a video message. Watch below:


Twenty years ago, Gunjan had created history as she became the first woman to enter the combat zone in Kargil.

She was later honoured with the Shaurya Vir award by the Indian government for displaying exemplary courage during war time.

And now a biopic based on her life ‘Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl’ is all set for the release on Independence Day eve (August 12,2020) on Netflix.

Actress Janhvi Kapoor will be seen in the titular role in the film portraying Gunjan Saxena onscreen.

Janhvi recently took to Instagram to share the release date of Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl and wrote, “Proud to bring to you the story of India’s first woman Air Force Officer to go to war. A journey that I hope will inspire you the way that it has inspired me. 🤞🏻GunjanSaxena – The Kargil Girl is landing on 12th August to your #Netflix screens!”
