It has almost been a year since Aishwarya Rai's father passed away but the latter is still coping up with her loss. Aishwarya who lost her father Krishna Raj Rai, was attending an event where she had to address the crowd.

While talking about her close bond with her father at the event, the actress got emotional, took pauses multiple times due to a lump in her throat and got teary-eyed.

Krishna Raj Rai passed away on March 18, 2017 and the actress shared a very close bond with him.

According to a report published in Deccanchronicle.com, the actress stated, "My daughter’s birthday is on the 16th and my father’s on 20th, so it was the year before, his last, that we celebrated together. This year was particularly emotional for us as a family and with daddy, it had to be about smiles. Celebrating everything he has taught me, everything he has passed through me to Aaradhya, it had to be about bringing a smile to people’s lives. Thank you that we have decided that 20th November will be the day of smiles.”'



Aishwarya and her father supported an NGO 'Smile Train'; engaged in enabling cleft surgeries for kids.

The actress further said, “Last year, Smile Train very generously offered to honour my father, late Mr Krishnaraj Rai, by announcing his birthday, 20th of November, as the 'day of smiles.' Thank you because this meant so much to us. My father worked with me with Smile Train. I like to always do something more effective and concrete on every personal occasion of our family, that’s what my parents always taught me.'

On the other hand, Aishwarya is coming up with her latest film 'Fanney Khan' in which she will share screen with Anil Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao. The movie is reportedly a remake of a Dutch movie titled Everybody's Famous. Reportedly, Aishwarya plays a singer in the movie,which is scheduled to release on April 13.'
